For years, I’ve been puzzled by something I see in remarkable women as they grow older.
By this stage of life, we’ve accumulated decades of experience. We’ve made difficult decisions, navigated change, and learned lessons that could only come from living.
If wisdom grows through experience, shouldn’t our confidence grow alongside it?
Yet I often see the opposite.
Many women begin questioning themselves more than they once did. They seek reassurance before making decisions and wonder whether they still have something meaningful to contribute.
I believe we’ve spent too many years absorbing a cultural story about aging that quietly erodes our confidence. We hear far more about what we’re losing than everything we’re gaining.
That story deserves to be challenged.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of creating spaces where people pause, reflect, and listen more deeply to themselves. Whether I’m facilitating a strategic planning session, coaching a client, or leading the Transformation Game, I continue to witness the same thing.
People reconnecting with the wisdom they’ve earned through living.
They leave with greater confidence in their own judgment because they’ve remembered something important about themselves.
To me, that’s one of the greatest opportunities as we age.
We already carry more wisdom than we give ourselves credit for.
Sometimes all we need is the right conversation to remember it’s there.
